Reckless Driving Ticket Reduce to No Point Offense in the Town of Vienna

August 2020

Client was stopped by the Town of Vienna Police for driving 55mph in a 35mph zone and given a speeding ticket.  Client was driving on Chain Bridge Road delivering food for a delivery service.  As a result, the police officer did not write the client for reckless driving since the speed was 20mph over the limit but, instead, for speeding.  Due to the client's job they wished to avoid DMV points so we were retained to help.  The client had one prior ticket on their driving record but was otherwise clean.  We spoke to the officer who agreed they could see the client worked for a food delivery service and was en route to deliver the goods.  The officer found our client to be polite and cooperative during the stop.  Our client completed a driver improvement course as instructed and the Town Attorney reduced the speeding charge to Failure to Pay Full Time and Attention under the Vienna Town Code with a fine.  The amended Town Code carries no points and will not appear on the client's driving record.
