Your Case is Our Priority
Whether you have a complex divorce case with custody, property, and support issues or a simple speeding ticket or felony charge, we care about each case as if they have dire implications in your life. We know you may be stressed and we know you may be anxious. We also know the court system inside and out.
Do I Need a Lawyer for my case?
We are advocates and not salesmen. We will not sell you a false bill of goods and will advise you if you do not need a lawyer for your case. We will also advise you of likely outcomes and what a likely result will be. Remember, the legal system is complex and the Court does not give flexibility to those who do not have a lawyer simply because they are representing themselves. In deciding ‘Do I need a Lawyer?', think about the old saying: “He who represents himself has a fool for a client.” – Abraham Lincoln.
What Can a Lawyer do for me?
We will ensure all possible legal issues are addressed because we know what they are. All documents (court pleadings) will be drafted articulately and filed on time. We will answer any questions you may have and will pursue a result that is consistent with your best interests. Whether you wish for a trial or settlement or plea bargain, we will be with you every step of the way. Remember, in a divorce case, your spouse probably has an attorney. Shouldn't you? If they don't have an attorney, what if you did? Finally, if you are charged with a crime or traffic infraction, the opposition is a police officer. What if you went up against a cop without a lawyer?
How much does a Lawyer cost?
Fees will depend on the type of case and its complexity. In divorces cases the retainer is hourly since it is really difficult to ascertain the time needed to successfully the resolve the case. In criminal and traffic cases the retainers are done on a flat-fee basis. In each practice area, your fee will be quoted during your free initial consultation. Remember, while lawyers can be expensive, not hiring a lawyer can be even more expensive.
How do I choose my Lawyer? I want the “Best.”
Communication is key here. Talk to different lawyers and choose the one you are the most comfortable with. It won't help you to find the most aggressive and rude lawyer for your case simply because you want an aggressive lawyer. There are many aggressive lawyers that are courteous and polite and will keep in touch with you about your case and have a good rapport with the court system and its employees. We are these lawyers. The court knows it can trust us to give it accurate information and our clients know they can trust us to keep them apprised of everything going on in their case and what the likely outcome of their case will be.
How does the Free Consultation Work?
In a family law case, you will receive a free initial 30-minute consultation. During this time, you will advise your lawyer of any pending court hearings, what relief you are seeking, and your expectations. We recommend that you write any questions you may have prior to your consultation so that it goes smoothly and that all your questions are answered. Please bring any paperwork you have to this meeting.
In a criminal or traffic case, you will receive a free consultation with no end-period. These consultations are typically shorter than family law matters and most are done by telephone per client request. If, however, they run longer than 30 minutes you will not be charged. Remember, bring any questions or documents you wish to discuss and we will be sure that you leave with a good idea of what to expect in your case.
