Reckless Driving by Speed in Loudoun County Reduced to Improper Driving
April 2025
Client was driving home back to Florida after visiting their son in Virginia. Anxious for the long drive home the client was stopped for speeding at 72/45. Due to the speed the Loudoun County Sherriff issued a reckless driving ticket. Given the client resided in Florida we filed a motion asking the Judge to waive their appearance and allow us to appear on their behalf for court. This motion was granted and we appeared for our client.
To prepare for the case we asked our client to complete an online defensive driving course and provide their Florida driving record. The courts and police do not have access to out-of-state driving records so it helps us to provide this to them. In this case our client had a clean driving record. We negotiated a reduction of the reckless driving charge to improper driving, a traffic infraction, with a fine. This is important because it avoids a conviction for a misdemeanor charge. The Loudoun County General District Court is one of the tougher jurisdictions in Northern Virginia so preparation pre-court for your traffic case is important.
