Running a Stop Sign Reduced to Failure to Pay Full Time and Attention in the Town of Vienna
September 2023
Client was stopped for going through a stop sign in the Town of Vienna. They were having trouble with their brakes and had to make a decision whether to try to stop or go through the stop sign. The Vienna Town Police Officer wrote a summons for failure to yield to a stop sign.
Our client resided in the District of Columbia and had a clean driving record. We discussed getting the brakes fixed to show the Court and they took a driver improvement course for extra mitigation. The Vienna Town Attorney agreed to reduce to the stop sign charge to failure to pay full time and attention with a fine. This reduced charge will not appear on the driving record as it is a non-reportable offense so it does not affect DMV points or insurance. Many traffic tickets in Vienna are trivial and can be prepaid. But it's important to note that prepayment is a guilty plea to the charge and a traffic attorney that regularly appears in that Court can really make a difference.
