Reckless Driving by Speed in Prince William County Reduced to Improper Driving
September 2023
Client was driving home from work on I-66 and was stopped for driving 90mph in a 65mph zone. Due to the speed the trooper charged them with reckless driving. Client was a Registered Nurse and a misdemeanor conviction could have posed real problems for their employment. In this case they were trying to get around another vehicle that kept swerving into their lane.
For their court date we had our client take a driver improvement course and provide us their work credentials. Beyond our client's good driving record we also like to show the Court many of our clients various backgrounds because it helps humanize them to Judges and Prosecutors. This also helps separate them from the moniker 'Defendant.' Many people have good jobs, families, prior schooling, and other activities that provide valuable support for our community. If you need to speak to a Prince William County Traffic Attorney be sure to tell them about your job or other background information that you think reflects favorably on you.
The Prosecutor agreed to lower the charge to Improper Driving, an infraction, with a fine. This is a great result because it avoids a misdemeanor conviction and falls off the driving record after 3 years.
